J.R. Alcorn Mephitis mephitis major 5 mi. SW Fallon, 4000 ft., Churchill Co., Nevada. March 3 1939 I trapped skunks along a drain ditch in this locality and caught about a dozen. I sold all skins to the fur buyer except this one ♂ which I saved for a specimen. The skunks are found all over the valley and especially along the Carson river and canal banks & drain ditch banks where burrows afford protection. (No 140 a ♂ JRA) West Walker River, Wilson Canyon, 4900 ft., Lyon Co., Nevada. March 5 1939. Several (♂) skunks were caught at the mouth of Wilson canyon but all were sold for fur except this one(♂ no.240 JRA) March 4 1938 5 mi. SW Fallon, 4000 ft., Churchill Co., Nevada. I caught two skunks at this location as follow: Total Tail H Foot Ear(Crown) Sex Weight 28½ 12¾ 3 1⅞ ♂ 6 lbs. 26½ 12 3 1⅞ ♀ 5lbs. Uterus horns normal March 28 1938 Vernon Mills reports catching one ♀ skunk at this location that had 7 embryo's ½ inch in diameter (His statements are reliable)
