Alcorn 1939 Spilogale gracilis Wilson Ranch, North of Wilson Canyon, Hooft, Lyon Co., Nevada. December 28, 1939. Going to the Wilson Ranch one of the hired men gave me a dead skunk & said another spotted " was in the cement & rock house which was used for food supplies etc. On entering the building I was told to be careful not to let the animal bite me or I would get "hydrophobia". The skunk was not in sight so I opened a cabinet & it was sitting on the 2nd shelf. It stayed watched me for a few seconds & then with the activity of a cat it jumped to the floor & ran under the cabinet. I took a sack & tried to place it over the animal but it was too active for me to catch. I then took a short piece of 4 inch pipe & ran the spotted skunk
