Head Hunters Cr., 1/2 mi. S W Hunters Lake, 8000', Washoe Co., Nevada
Today Vernon & Laura E Mills & I
hunted bear in this region. We
drove to Hunters Lake & from
there walked two or three
miles SW to a large meadow.
We found bear tracks in
many places and especially
on this one location where
they had been bedding
down and both fresh &
old signs (beds, feces, etc.)
were seen in a dense
thicket. We then walked north
from the meadow for about a
mile & there in the mud
near
a pool of water was very
large bear tracks that
were made within the past
several days. We did
not see any bear but
so many tracks kept
our courage up. We
walked back to the car
& returned to Fallon
