Alcorn 1939 Corynorhinus rafenesque Bluestone mine, 3 1/2 mi. SW Yerington, 5200 ft., Lyon Co., Nev. Dec. 27, 1939 Today, in company with Dr. Wendell Chapman, Laura E. Mill & Kay Beach I inspected the Bluestone mine in search of bats. The tunnel is about 10 ft. wide x 10 ft. high. We went back into this mine for about 1000 ft. or more. On the way out (about 650 ft. from entrance) we saw one bat Corynorhinus? Its ears were coiled under the wings and the trefoils was straight. Wings were wrapped around animal from sides to meeting on under surface. it was 40 deg. F. where bat was taken & a draft was coming by the bat. within 50 ft. of animal ice? 1 1/2 in. dia. x 16 in. long. was found. The animal moved slowly when placed in a sack. Taken home it became active within several
