Cleve Cr, 5000ft, White Pine Co., Nevada,
said the forest service did not
believe any sheep to be in
the Mt. Wheeler region. He did say
there possibly may [illegible]
be some in the Shell Creek range
and to see Mr. Alex Kolcheck who
lived in [illegible] at the
base of the range, we contacted
Mr. Kolcheck
who said he
took Major Goldman who represents
some museum into the Shell Cr. range
& Major Goldman & party saw
about 20 or more head but
were unable to kill any although
at reasonably close range.
This was years ago,
he said, and although he had not
been into the back country for
some years he thought there was
a possibility that Mt. Sheep may
still be in the area. From his
cabin on Cleve Creek he pointed
out the country we should go to.
So we walked into an isolated
spring where we found about
a dozen domestic sheep (rams) but
no sign of Wild Mt. Sheep.
