Myotis 9 mi. E & 2 mi. N Yerington, 4100 ft., Lyon Co., Nevada. Dec. 27/1939. it's ears were erect; eyes open and the bat was not active and acted as though it was partly torpid. When I took hold of it the mouth of the animal was opened and a hissing sound was made. Going 10 ft. from the entrance of the tunnel another Myotis; 6 ft. high on side & top of tunnel; in small short crevice; temperature at 50 Fahrenheit where bat was taken; and the animal was clinging to rock with ears erect & eyes open. This animal likewise was very inactive & when I dropped it on the floor it was not active enough to fly or move fast. In attempting to remove it from its crevice in the ceiling I noted that it clung to the rock so that some force was needed to pry it loose.
