J.R.Alcorn 1940 Odocoileus hemionus yellowstone river,5 mi.W Forsyth,275ft, Rosebuds., Montana. June 2,1940. A small deer (mule tail ?) was seen this afternoon. We were all in camp when the animal was seen to come within 40 yards of camp. It was not wild and we watched it for several minutes before it disappeared into the timber up the river. Its tail+rump were white+ tail had a blue tip. It apparently was a mule tail deer. Several ranchers in this vicinity have told me that a few deer inhabited the river bottom in this section.
