J.R. Alcorn 1939. Microtus montanus (2) In Community Pasture, 7 mi. SE Fallon, Churchill Co., Nevada. Nov. 11. months. What appeared to be a skunk had been digging into the burrows & on two occasions I noted where the mice nest had been dug out by the predator. I took a shovel & dug into seven of the burrows and on three occasions a nest was found about 12 or 14 inches from the entrance of the burrow. The burrow usually divided and continued beyond the nest, each branch extending for approximately one to two feet. None of the burrows excavated reached beyond five feet.
