J.R. Alcorn 1940 Castor canadensis Yellowstone River, 5 min. W Forsyth, 2750 ft., Rosebud Co., Montana June 5, 1940 deal wood and green timber had been used in the making of this [illegible] house. much of the dead wood appeared to be driftwood that was 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter and some of it was 10 to 15 feet in length. Most of the green wood was willows that were 1 to 2 inches in diameter and about 10 feet long. Many willows are growing along the bank of the river and many of these have been cut by beaver about 6 to 10 inches above ground and the willows in turn have sprouted out and kept growing.
