some 30 feet into the nest. I have ran other
experiments with other smaller lengths of bait and
have found that the gophers usually prefer to take the
bait to the nest. and apparently eat them there.
We are now using sweet potatoes cut 2 inches long and
1/2 inch square, put them in a dishpan and sprinkle
1/4 ounce of strychnine Alkaloid over one gallon of
cut sweet potatoes and are getting very good results.

I set gopher traps and found the following information.
Measurements were taken and ovaries examined. I caught
19 gophers in a three acre field of alfalfa.
