J.R. Alcorn 1940 Citellus beechyi. NE end Lake Tahoe, Washoe Co., Nevada. Sept. 1, 1940 Driving along the highway near the lake today? noted one (not [illegible]) beechyi ground squirrel that had apparently been ran over by an automobile. It was in the road and the skull was crushed. Another beechyi ground squirrel was seen on the top of a fallen log. It was about 1 mile N.E. of the lake in a growth of timber and manzanita. It sat on the log allowing my father and [illegible] to approach within 40 ft. before it ran. It appeared to be full grown.
