J.R. Alcorn 1939 Zalophus californianus San Francisco Bay, Berkeley Yacht Harbor, Ft. Alameda Co., Calif. Nov. 3. like a rock, I could not find any wounds on the animal that might indicate a previous injury except its penis was extended externally for about 6 inches and it (the penis) looked infected and partly rotted or eaten on the extended portion. As Ward Russell & I prepared & skinned it, we found the bladder to be very tight & full. In this bladder was a fluid which looked "infectious" to me. The bladder was 203 mm. in length when full and 138 mm across. The kidneys were 205 mm long. It weighed 450 pounds.
