J.R. Alcorn 1938 1939 Canis latrans (lestes?) 10 mi.W Fallon, 4000 ft., Churchill Co., Nevada. Feb.20 1938 V.Mills shot a coyote today and I took the following measurements: ♂ Total 46 inches.Tail 13½ inches.H Foot 7¼ inches.Ear 5¾inches. Weight 29 pounds. Walker River, 5 mi.N Yerington, 4350 ft., Lyon Co., Nevada. March 5 1939 ♂ Canis latrans 1019-340-205-120 Weight 30pounds This large coyote was caught in a trap that I had set several days ago. The trap was baited with a great horned owl which I had shot. Trap was set out on a sand bar & tied to a log which I drug to the location for the purpose. Many coyote tracks were seen along the river. (no.241 JRA) 12 mi.S Fallon 4000 ft., Churchill Co., Nevada. Sept.5, 1939. This coyote ran across the highway in front of my car so I stopped and got out of the car and shot it with the 30-06 ♀ 990-292-180-110 No.469 J.R.A= (15 lbs) 8 mi. E.Wabuska, 4400 ft., Lyon Co., Nevada. Sept.8, 1939. no. 473 J.R.A. 1140-323-190-123-(26 lbs.) This large coyote was caught in a No.3 Victor steel trap set in a place where many coyotes come to scratch. 2 Kangaroo rats were used for bait.
