88. 1893. Mar. 28. First nest - Mocker - on porch. Apr. 25 A. Irvin, 525 Junipera Ave, called. He wants Mocker eggs to put in his incubator @ $ each. 26 Spent an hour or so in Fairmount Park col. botanical spec. and observing birds. saw Robin, DickR(2) & L. Brenting. Aug 12. Spent a week in Strawberry Valley Aug. 2 to 10. and observed the fly. Ichadma macroni - can. Melanheres formicivorous vandii - abundant. Colafites cafus - 7d. - can. Cyanocitta stelleri frontalis: abundant. Icocolcephagus cyanoccephalus - in flocks Spinus frinds (2), a few seen. Junco hyrcalis thumberi Sialia mexicana common Also hawks, Owls (W. Horned) hummers. and a few strange birds. Bird life was scarce except Wood Ps. & Jays which kept up a rousing chorus of shrieks, caws + yells all day + a good share of the night. There were Pines 6ft. in diam.
