The bird is haid off, 2 shot, leng. 3.75 or mac. wing 2 in. ll. 1.25 bill .69. fan feathers. bill covered with sulphury substance at base but rubbed off. Back green, dark on forehead, Back of head & throat black but glitter bright. brest dirty white green under black collar, white collar. Lateral t. feathers whitetypled 2nds a little. mid.t. same as back. Annas Humming bird T. anna = C. anna. Have recd. one set. Vermilion Flycatcher, Pyrocephalus rubineus mexicanus. 1894 Dec. 4 Norb Stebbins shot me near dam by knapps, which I secured. (#183) The first I know of having been taken since 1884. Dec.26. I took a f near the dam at head of brook (#189). It acted like any other flycatcher, catch- ing insects along the brook and lighting on bushes and tall weed- stems along the bank.
