House Finch (Crimson) Carpodacus mexicanus frontalis rhodocolpus. 1891 4/10 Found an old nest of Icterus bullockii in Box Syc. Canyon which contained a new nest of H. Finch. No eggs. 1892. Apr 27 Syc. Can. Nest and six eggs, nearly incub. uniform in size coloration & microbatai. May 4 nest +5 eggs. 2 with 4 or 5 spots & 3 with no spots. Streaked towards small end, allee same woodpecker. 5 Another nest of binback orchd. 1893. Mar 29 One eats oranges - June 25 On the 25th found nest in our laurel bush- 3 eggs- broke one over side of nest. On the 26th 3 eggs again. Today only 2 but warm this A.M. 1894. - And Icterus bullockii - see page 18. May 4 Nest of 4 ygs just hatched +1 egg in Rose bush. 17 Birds flown from abar evidently same time ago.
