Holmes,R 1962 Journal 10 Aug Peters Lake, Alaska Seen collected on Chumbylai Fan. Say's Phoebe (3), 1 Northern Shrike (juv) + 3 Redpolls seen at camp edge - beach of pipit + wheatears. Another Gymnatic Shrike was seen & flin directly across from camp - on the low growing (4') willows. 11 Aug Peters Lake -> Barrow, Alaska Plane arrived late last night & we departed for Barrow at 0900 - flew a straight course from Peters to Sliktok (mount colville) -> into Barrow area on coast. Numerous caribou (50mi E. of Sagemontole River - 15-20mi inland on coast - 1 cow) were noted. Only 1 or 2 Parakeet jays were observed. Arrived Barrow at 1200. Rest / day spent - boat catching up - Samples & notes 12 Aug Barrow, Alaska I picked Samples all morning & then went to VOR area - VOR mast during the afternoon. For Holle / Dunlin nest & several individual Pertrale. Weather overcast but calm during the morning - 10 mph NNE wind + fog during the afternoon. Hunts & Stevens to Peters Lake after supper.
