Holmes,R 1962 Journal 43 8 Aug Peters Lake, Alaska Up at 6700 - had breakfast & walked to the south shores (or fans) to the south end of the lake (with R. Ashley) & up into the canyon - So. of Mt. Chamberlain. The only birds seen were in the lowland - mostly the new Unmataus, Whatears, & pipits - with a few Logland Longspurs, Snow Buntings & 1 Sparrow (untried?). No [illegible] Eagles was noted. The jay's nest was not located. Arrive back at camp at 1600 - walked around for lake in the evening. Weather overcast with low clouds hanging on the mountain tops - heavy rain during the afternoon & early evening. 9 Aug Peters Lake, Alaska Woke r I were up early - checked traps at both ends of the lake - caught several Microtus pennsylvanicus (mainly Swales, Between Peters & Shroder Lakes & M. m. mirus) & The upper fans at the south end of the lake. Located 1 jay's nest (with at least 3 Parrots - presumed) The 2 adults & 1 young in the tree) on the Peters-Shroder alluvium. Also located just past on east side / Shroder - with 2 adults present but no young
