Holmes,R 1962 Journal 37. 28 July Barrow, Alaska Weather - high pressure with light NW wind during the morning - change to dinner low fog - 10-15 mph NW wind + scattered rain + mist during afternoon evening. At The a.m. I worked on specimens - Then after lunch went out to Ookpil Sloyl & Elsin Lagoon. Found flat 1 40 ± Dunli feeling at Elsin bluffs - 800yd from Okpil - two were collected. Flat 2: 6 Black-bellied Plovers + several Bectoral Sandpipers seen in Central Marsh. Since the 0.46" rain which fell during the early morning hours Friday - 27th - there is much standing water on the tundra. Most of the depressions are now filled & small pools or puddles everywhere. The ponds & insect mudge & in that vicinity have raised an average of 3 centimeters in height. The rain which has been falling today - should increase no ever more. 29 July More rain fell today at Barrow + The weather was consequently overcast + cool. A light northerly - NW westerly breeze was blowing. Went to insect plots during the afternoon - took vacuum & observatory samples - then we almost no insect activity - [illegible]
