1 July Barrow, Alaska
Weather: raining lightly in the morning but juice
low fog + mist with 5- rings were in afternoon.
Morning spent in lab working insect
Samples & Spheres. In afternoon - went to
North Area to check a hatching nest. Mullen +
I left for Shrewsbury at 1900 - arrived there at
2000. Weather - high overcast - light northerly
wind. Set out gill net (after untangling it !)
Along the west shore I Shrewsbury
2 July Barrow-Shrewsbury, Alaska
Circuited plat from 0900 - 1400 + returned
to Barrow during the late afternoons after
checking nest on the way. Weather calm
but overcast & drizzly in the a.m. - raining with
light N.S. breeze in the afternoon - partly clear
by evening.
3 July Morning Spent in lab until 1000 - I went to
Beaver Ridge to check a Culex Sqp. Nest #1
again. But no & - 2 before. Then went to South
and Beaver Ridge + found # 2 sitting -
no net. Picked up items + came in
for lunch. Hines + I took the insect
sample during the afternoon. Weather in
the morning - was overcast - cold N. wind
(5-8 mph). Twin Snow Flurries. - Remained
Cold & cloudy during the afternoon -
occasional intense rain.
