Holmes,R 1964 Journal 7 June Barrow, Alaska white to brown within 12 hours. Water was flowing everywhere, at the rate the snows will be all gone. Fog set in by 2100 - calibrate 8 June 0830-1130. No.B.R., weather overcast, occas. Sun light easterly swirl - generally cool. Bird activity poor - 1RB displace, 1PS. SW-r., 1 Shr. Owl, Sw. Pom. Juncers. 1330-1600 - BR near of Pikelka's plot - photographed some PS? - some chasing 1 PS, TRD obsd. - 15h-e. Owl hunting - no snowies. 1730-1740 - AACs - 2DS, 1PS, 1759- 15h-e. Owl. Weather pm - partly sunny - current & occas. fog. cold east wind. Melt not proceeding as rapidly today. Evening u lab. 9 June Wotld. lab + tried nut plot + standards for try This afternoon. 1400-1200 - went to No. B.R. - not there 1400, 1/4 bird activity - White wings are common, however. Weather - overcast, cool (25-30°k) + windy (near -10-15 mph). Snow flurries all morning. All park & we First lake (yesterday - cool - top open -) was covered cm with ice at 1200. 1300-1600. BR, no. 1 Pikelka's plot - tried to lure in PS with pavell but didn't work - tried it with another S? at Samson 1 BA + got slight reaction. Weather still cold - below 30° all day - snow flurries - cold wind. Melt process gradual, still fog at 1600. Maclean arrived in late afternoon.
