Holmes,R 1964 Journal 3 June Fairbanks - Barrow, Alaska Arrived API at 1630. From air, approx. 80%. Tundra is snow-covered. Weather forecast - light westerly wind - temp ~ 30-35°. Clothes - issue not possible to locate in the day! So will have to wait till tomorrow for before going afield. At Erickson, Alaska Dept. Fish & Game arrived with Marvin Perkins. Recent! Rain Ft. Live Zoo - after Polar Bear!! 4 June Setup new lab & hulled with Brews in the morning. 1200-1430 After lunch, walked through drum area to AACS - went to Salt Lagoon & drove to camp. Area 30% bar - mainly patchy - but swell (large area (80x58'). On NNE were found more birds, particularly Pictoreas (42;17;18) & Redbills (2-3?). Semi-pes & Birds were seen 25- 3's in the drum area; several pairs were near AACS. 2g. Pivin also near salt lagoon. 1 Snowy Owl - sitting in Pityphene near Trapline IX, + X, 1+ Shot - landed Owl near AACS. 2 Ruddy Turnsters - in drum area. Scattered - hunting Pomeine Gaugers between end/drum area & beach ridge. - Weather forecast, 10-15 mph SW wind. 1600-1830.- Drive to lower ridge - Woblesdug - Elsen Lagoon - 4 within 10 yds & 1 Colpitts. Weather funny - 15+ mph SW-W wind - cold. Several groups: 1 Pictoreas, 2 RB, 2 GB / Wr-Size. SW. Sh.-e. Drift of snow owl & Tan. Doyers. Lemming
