29 June Barrow, Alaska
Samples - including pond edge - Vireo &
Observati plates. Weather clear but
16-15mph - SE/E wind was blowing.
In the evening - we all went to Schmidt
Kornis' seminar in bird orientation.
30 June Barrow, Alaska
Morning spent in shinning birds & picking
up rat work. P. telles left at 1100.
Henri & I went to Beak Ridge & found
Cedar Sop nest #1 destroyed - then drove to Gas
line ridge - east to Whalesbog Slough -
checked on C.Sop #2 & found the 2 still in-
cubating - went W. along east side of Bear
Ridge & then across the ridgeline counter
murmur - cuban 85 Long-tailed Jaeger
were feeding. - No Sandpiper display
seen - heard today - there was
very little bird activity at all.
Weather was clear & warm - with
a light W or S. Breeze - lots of
mosquitoes & other insects were out)
Went to Volo area in the evening - 1 pectoral displaying
near Trapline 1/B - only RB head was one
flushed from a nest. Two Semi-pals - Chasing: This,
was the extent I display activity. Weather
became overcast - but remained warm &
sultry - fewer mosquitoes the next afternoon
