Holmes, R. 1962 Journal 24 June Barrow, Alaska Late afternoon - I reached De ridge to the south of the plot & the west - seen little except around burial, & Pectoral Seals, & Dunlin. The white-capped ship. was observed near the south end & the plot. Returned to the camp late in the evening. Weather remained windy & much colder. 25 June Barrow, Alaska Went to Devel Ridge & walked north ridge - to Curlee Sdg. areas - where only the 8 was seen - walked into camp. In the afternoon - the main vacuum motor was renovated - but would not work - so Hines & I went to the inner plots & took pond samples & observation plots. Weather - cloudy - 8-10 mph. → NE - slowed to <5 mph by late evening - when Peterson came out. 26 June Barrow, Alaska Pitkelka, Hines, & I went to Devel Ridge - found NEST OF CURLY SANDPIPER with 3 eggs - returned at 1700. Weather clear over night. No. Mice. In the afternoon - met Bethwork; we went to the insect plate - took a vacuum sample. In the evening, Pitkelka & I went to the Beach Ridge & central marsh & Creek Tops - found a 20 Curlew Sops.
