Holmes, R. 1962 Journal 19 June Barrow, Alaska Spent at Dr. Lab - preparing for trip to Shroavik. Weather Partly cloudy. 16-20 mph N.W. wind. 20 June Barrow, Alaska Made final preparations Friday. Hens o2 left at 1300 - arrived at Dr. Shroavik Wannigan at 1430. Set up gss & censused the plot 46 acre. 1530-1830. - weather cold, windy & foggy. Birds generally inactive. Walked North of Wannigan to Wannigan Creek & then down Dr. Lake. Wind had let down & was only blowing 5-5 mph & fog lifted & birds were more active. Nest-finding increased & it seemed that the birds (particularly phalopter & Dunlin) returned to their nest more directly & more quietly. 21 June Barrow, Alaska. All day was spent on the Shroavik plot with bird activity at a minimum - due probably To a 10-15 mph W.E. wind + occasional logs. Left the Wannigan at 1600 - went to The insect plots, took sample #3, & arrived at ARI. at 2015. Weather still overcast & windy. 22 June Pikelka - I spent morning on the breech ridge watching The Curlews Sandpipers. Lab work was done during the afternoon & we returned to The B.R. - went to N.Gasoline for
