Mammal lab doing paperwork. In
afternoon - Johnson & I went to Oolipih
Slough via gazelles ridge & fertschier
plots. Saw following birds - BR> Gaglai: 1 Ad RB
1 PT with 6 P chick, 1 Ad RB. So Gazelles: 2 Im
PT + 1 Ad, 1 PB, 1 RB, 2 PRB, 1 RB, 2 RB, 1 Im
PS. So south 1 ftut plot: 4 PRB, 3 Ad RB, 1 Ad
RB. E 1 Ftut plot: 2 RB, 1 RB, 2 Im PS,
32.B Dowl, 1 S.o., 2 Ad RB (+ 1 Im?) +
So cm - 1 PS-I + 1 Ad RB.
Redbills were in snowdrifts &
very few immatures were seen. Picked
adults were absent & only a few immatures
were seen, certainly less than would be
expected after the nesting death last
year.
The tundra is extremely wet - even
lowland areas have standing water or
at least saturated river water. -
So no matter where we move -
we are working in moist ground.
Weather today was partly clear
in the morning but foggy - in
the afternoon. Very still evening - made
the day seem warm - even though
the temp was - the 30's. Paul Harel arrived too
late to be fueled in the evening.
