Hilme 1963 Journal 38 9 Aug Barrow, Alaska Flying in the same area. Pholusys quite common - in lots, + pods. 2 afternoon, soil insect sample in Vt. river most severe large around this Andre - saw 1 float) (AN RB, + 3 Bmps. At Brooks Bar- prob. - 1/4 12lbs + 2 Bmp AB + 2 Bmps. Weather overview - snowflurry - cold Prrt - soft wind. 16 Aug Barrow, Alaska In morning, specimen insect sample was processed. 2 afternoon, I drove south along coast over only meadow lake (40RB), south prairie slope (25 + 10 RB, 20RB, 20RB, 37BD) the east toward Fort plot across tilled county (Fert 1 68 RB). The north & south and 1 central meadow (3 separate Insect Ps + brood 1 Spectacled Eiders) of the brook DNL. Insects were most noticeably missing; again RB Insects are not very common. Weather - partly sunny - panther cover. 10-15 mph west wind. 11 Aug BARROW, ALASKA Weather was overcast - with a cool light west wind (3.8mph).
