Holmes,R. 1962 Journal 12 June Barrow, Alaska Dunlin, Baitel, Sem-yet Lags - 2 Snow Geese flying South along Elsin; Portals to old Squan in Cut- marsh Ponds. Weather slightly overcast in the morning - clearing but still parts cloudy during afternoon - warm - light breeze from East. Snow going fast - large area of open water - edge of mineral now exposed - area between B.R. & Elsin Lagoon - flushy ice - Several areas of Tundra which have been covered - now showing signs of Lemmings - several Lemmings seen. Afternoon spent in same area - Evening at Mullen's with Pitekler & working notes. 13 June Barrow, Alaska Worked in loft until 1000 - Then went to Dunnet Plot - took Sample - over 3 prch open. Arms around out - arrow. VTH 'Loki' (stomp) At gooselake edge to Terns - picking up Pitekler, returned to A.R.L. Bird activity moderate. After lunch - Pitekler & I went North to Elsin Lagoon - could not find E. ferregrinio. In the evening I went with Britten & Ann - saw Semi-palmated to Narids - 3 pr. R.B. Weather overcast in the morning with strong (10 mph - N.E.) wind - Sunny with light breeze during the afternoon & evening.
