Holmes, R. 1963 Journal 21. 19 June Barrow, Alaska Wated in lat until 4:30 then A. Stillwell went to his census plot + observed at least 3 Western Sandgipers. However- There was little display activity - because the deep foggy windy locale. A few peripods were seen - burros or redbats ?Mard. In afternoon, I hunted North beach side - collected 5cv. sandgipers - See cability. But activity was low. 20 June Went to Dusset plots + took Vacuum- samples (before the merlin brown). and sample t observed in counts. Ad. Tipula were noted - 13Jem- or over adult Pedina. Many pupae are apparent in the samples. In afternoon, I returned + completed no vacuum-job - The heated through the area S. 1 Vory + collected several peripods. Weather cle today but cold fronts (10-15 mph for E). 2 evening, I hunted in the BR-North meadow lake area + collected 3 Redbats. 21 June Left for Shrootail summit. After breakfast + stood-up plot mobile 16:30. Weather was overcast with long-lash wind - cold. Peripod activity was still good, but lub else was seen in. Burning seemed spring
