12 June Barrow, Alaska
for a while then went to AKS area -
When all birds were scarce - (except
Baird's) - White Yorg - display was
noted.
Weather today windy (10-20 mph) -
Cold - and occasional sun shown
Anyway.
Work in lab evening - fueled red car
in ready to take Pickett & me to Airport
from flight to Cape Thompson - Left at ~
2300. - saw 3 Snowy Owls between Barrow
Skull cliff - cream aircraft foggy.
Arrived Thompson - 0200 - 6-13-63 - met
Harry Storm, camp chief, Bill Brown, & 2 U.S.
G.S. (Tailleur & Gary Anderson). - went to Red -
13 June Ogontz Creek, Cape Thompson, Alaska
-left cap at 0800 - took break up side
of Crowbee Mtn - to main camp - near
Kp 1 ridge at 0845. We then worked
north (forest) along hypsoge - where
snowe height for 500-700' - above
Sea level. - covering 3-4 miles during
about 7-8 hours. Habitat here was
Norly - (Stole) - ground covered by low
Growth Broom + Sedge. Occasional
patelated (grass) were encountered - The
had good rabbit signs. Birds seen alm
