Holmes, R 1963 Journal 27 may Barne, Alaska Peiper + arrived at 1015 this a.m. and were met by D. Muelle & J. Humphrys. After getter settled + having lunch, we went out to De Beard ridge - Wohlschley Sloyd & Elsa Igon The B.R. top is nearly all exposed - one clear step / tundra 30 to 100 feet wide - with patches / snow only in the deeper ditches & troughs. There was very little bird activity in this sector - only 3-4 O + 2 g Longspur + several Parnam Jayars. Along De Mabelle / Wohlschley, large areas (1/4 - 1/2 acre) were exposed - motly grassy tundra - has several Pecked Seps & 1 Baritci were located - as well as 7 Sanddrijs. Along Elsa Igon bluff - mine open funda - with the above species seen + 3 R. Turnstones, 3 Quails, 2 Semi-pal Seps, frequent Longspurs + several Parnam Jayars. Courtship activity was seen in SP & PS. Trits were heard from RBFBS & SP - In general the tundra was quiet, however - except for the occasional Longspursey. The meet-off appears to be 7-10 days ahead / schedule + is progressing rapidly. Wetns today ( + in general for the last 3 weeks - DAM) Was clear, Sunny + warm (40-50°F). Man parts / coats are now seen on the
