Holmes,R. 1962 Journal 28 may Barrow, Alaska. The wagon at Stenartik was checked. It had been broken into during Dr Wright's + numerous supplies were missing. No Shorebirds seen today. Only ones reported are the 2 Golden Plovers by code m 26 may. 29 may Barrow, Alaska Weather cloudy with light snow falling all during the day. Wind from NtE- The morning - shifting to SE during the afternoon evening. Snow condition seem about the same; more exposed areas were found on the high bluff, along the short Elson Lagoon before the duck camp at Bennie + Stepik Slough. The permanent depth varies from 0 to 1 1/2" (in the mossy areas). 0600-1200 - cleanup lot + skinnny cutatear. 1230-1630. - Drove to Elson Lagoon: Longspurs (L.L.); Snow Buntings (S.B.); Reddy Turnstones (R.T.); Pectoral Sandpipers (P.S.); Red-backed (RB) and B. S.) Sandpipers, Golden Plovers. Drove across Beach Ridge (Sev. 87 L.L.) to Voth area + Then back to camp. 1 RB + Sev. 22 seen + 1/2 heard in the area.
