Holmes, R. 1962 Journal 40. 17 Aug. Barrow, Alaska Morning spent preparing & processing specimens + waiting for flight plans - but since weather was bad in the west - we were put off until Sunday. In the afternoon- I went to the insect plots - took pond, Vacuum & Observation Samplers. Weather overcast with 5-10 mph SE wind blowing. 18 Aug Barrow, Alaska Pond Sample processed during The morning + then in The afternoon, I went to Beach Ridge - 51sm Lagoon (Brant Pt.) - cahol marsh + meadows Lakes, returning via AACS. Not 1 of the prepar man along Or lagoons (Frisi, M. Sort.+ E1sm) but a few Pintail were seen on soft marshy fundra. Large flock of davitchers were No. 1 (Nu B.R. - (Nof mag. stat.) + on the curve of cahol marsh. Several long-t. jagaws were seen hunting - 2 Snow Owl were on the beach ridge near gasoline. Weather was overcast + misty - with 5-10 mph East wind. 19 Aug Barrow, Alaska Morning spent in lab. In the afternoon I went out past the duck camp + along Or pores toward Point BARROW.
