15 Aug Barrow, Alaska
In the morning - I went to Shnavik via
Vol+ Footprint Lake. Returned on the
east side of gasoline by meadows &
beach ridge. Weather - Thick fog - 1/8 to 1/2 mi
visibility.
Footprint Lake was nearly devoid of life - except small flocks of longspurs & 3
immature plovers. Mather's love
Lawn on gravel ponds near Britton's Butte
Turk Lake (Pholospera, mauri, & first alpino -
R. Turnstone & melanotes) - while some
pholages & mountain alpines were
also present at the large inland
lakes (not Shnavik, however).
Afternoon was spent picking insect larvae
specimens. Nobles' were

16 Aug Barrow, Alaska
Drive to Bead Ridge & halfway to Elson
Lagoon - during the morning. Then went
to Britton's Butte & Sour Salt Lagoon
in the afternoon. Weather overall -
muddy & windy (10-15 mph - E). Several
groups of seals, birds & plovers seen -
Aluminum little activity. Some vacuum
used samples were cleared. Then full moon
& Mullen's in the evening.
