Holmes.R 1962 Journal 47. 13 aug Barrow, Alaska In the morning, I went to Dead body - Central marsh - via meadow lakes - got Bridge & the south for about a mile. Two flocks of Dunlin were encountered, several individuals melanotos - few lim. R. phalanger, small mm. Goode Chlors. In the afternoon - observed plots - met 3 adults even with in the Volk - marsh area. Specimen processed during the evenings: Weather - hazy overcast - with occasional jotter / sunshine. 6-5 mph East wind in the a.m. - increase to 10-15 mph in the evening. Fog settled by 2230. 14 Aug Barrow, Alaska Mornings spent in lab writing a sample & specimens. In the afternoon - sod samples were taken at the insect plots & the No. Volk & Britton's Areas were checked. Most sandpipers were along the gravel ponds - except for a few pectorals in the wet polygons! Several No. Phalanger seen with the Red P. - near Britton's Area. Weather overcast but calm in the a.m. - clearing partly in the afternoon - fog settled by 1700 - lasting through the evening. 45-50°F - ae da - little wind.
