L. Macmillan Page 21
March 17th, 1939
WEATHER: Almost constant rain all day till 5 P.M. Clouds 100%
for the greater part of the day, only odd glimpses of the sun
seen. Cloud carry from the N.W.
BIRDS: The birds were early astir and feeding before sun up.
Within a very short time of dawn the rain commenced and though
birds were active during the first half hour of rain they soon
became subdued and retired to sheltered perches. If the rain
ceased for ten minutes they immediately became active again but
left off as soon as the rain recommenced.
