BIRDS - NEW CALEDONIA L. Macmillan Page 21 March 17th, 1939 WEATHER: Almost constant rain all day till 5 P.M. Clouds 100% for the greater part of the day, only odd glimpses of the sun seen. Cloud carry from the N.W. BIRDS: The birds were early astir and feeding before sun up. Within a very short time of dawn the rain commenced and though birds were active during the first half hour of rain they soon became subdued and retired to sheltered perches.
