BIRDS - NEW CALEDONIA L. Macmillan Page 68 The bird appeared to be a little bigger than Hypotaenidia with little or no tail, long bright yellow legs and the body appeared to be a light soft dove grey, about the grey of the Kagu. I would have thought it a small hawk but for the absence of tail, but it actually may have had a tail as the glimpse was too fleeting to be sure. If it was a hawk it must have been a species about as large as the Nankeen Kestral of Australia. Sk. No. 52A. GERYGONE Gerygone: Female IMM. 0/0 plus. SHOT: 7:10 a.m. WGHT: 5.95 gms. SKL: .33 ossif.
