West Union extends down as far S as Minnes Mille. 7, A mile east of Plimmer's Land on road crossing the ridge between clear shale, Stockton & Duckin' creeks, 8 in freestone. Place Modulus at various levels are: 5 7 ft Shaly clay shale, with iron 5 7 1/2 ft to top of Brine Ridge freestone. 14 1/2 ft S. whity shale. 3 ft greenish argillaceous shale mixt with calcareous & ferruginous partings. 39 1/2 ft Covered. 160 ft Ch's shale, ferruginous, 9 ft Almonting. 3 ft Oak Orchard. There is no West Union here. The section base begins at home of Basil Whiton. RR cut south of Tunnel Cut: Lower part of Middle Eden. 4 ft Massive hard blue-l. layers, fused 2 1/2 in Massive l. arg. breccia, 30 ft 4 in modular clayey sappy, Ch's 3 1/2 ft 2 in soft blue limestone layers. 6 1/2 ft 6 in modular ditto with extra limestone, + plenty of clay my approximate, Ch's 40 ft [Inner] Eden measurement. Same led well shown is next cut northward, in case if his sent in a large scale. Drawing = 40 ft Our photo taken here but not by hand. Further in is -third cut showing similar features. The next 2 cuts show chiefly this upper iron-bleeded middle & eda larger. Tunnel cut 2 photos. Pleasant Valley, just north L+V depot. 5 in. thick free l'permell. 1 1/2 in clay parting. 5 in thick free l'permell. 14 in argill. shale. 3 in blue l. 14 ft 6 1/2 in soft blue argillaceous, with mica filings 14 ft 3 in massive ware marked C at top of Cynthia's era. Cynthia's beds immediately N of L+V depot.
