Mayerville Summit. [illegible] 1/2 ft 7 in of softer clay, weathering back 3 1/2 ft above base of the next series of limestones & Leptaena slight ridalis sp., Septam abundant at this level and in 1 ft below at least. 1/8 ft. Liptana up was loose 5 minutes relapse, B'd it fall down a ravine thrown up. See not good reason for the latter. 4 1/2 ft to base of Strophalos encrusted layer. Crinoid arm encrusting in 1 1/2 ft. Asser water with Balmeella jugosa. Warrm = 41 ft 3 in. Carlisle - Millersburg. 1) NEast of Carlisle, about 2 miles, at tunnel cut, from part of Utica I think. 2) NEast of Carlisle 1 mi. crusted layers of limestone with 6 good clit and 1 mile at various localities. 3) West of Carlisle. W. of bridge 93. Bryograms collected. Delivered to be Lower Utica. 4) 1 1/4 W. of Carlisle. An array of heavy limestone beds, little clay, crusted layers. One Clitama samples collected in R B Ballard. This ballast contains very grains. Very heavy ballast just yet broken down delivered to lime from quarry. 5) 1 1/2 mi W. of Carlisle. T.M. of Cothryn, clay or rubble limestone. 10 ft below top is Orthocerascula immediately above Cothryn is massive limestone dipping sing to clit and bryozoa, zone 5 thinks but no search made for clit ambunites.
