Irish limestone, solid forming falls, gray clay beneath. 64 White Oak creek road at Erwine, W of road 1/2 mi S of junction of White Oak road and road to Callaway creek, Black Shale, Devonian cherty l. 52 1/2 white clay part of this section grey in color 11 ft white clay with hard flint shale in 1/2 foot thin brown limestone, 5 1/2 ft white clay C 2 ft solid brownish limestone, 25 ft white clay 5 1/2 ft ripple limestone thin layers 24 qft not exposed stream branch. 126 ft = total of above section From C down to top of limestone layers at top of Clinton equals 44 yd at forks of White Oak creek one and road to Callaway creek, 78 ft to top of Dev. L. This measur- ment is quite accurate. The thickness of the Devonian limestone such as at least 75 ft but must be measured near the river, while the exposures are later at base of section. Other fossils: Plectamphorus trainsorals, orthus descendula, Phinupena pladna, Sep. Tamarachnoides, Pizzenariola, Calymene megacephala, large size.
