63 [illegible]
120 feet top of Lynx hds to bottom
of Clinton in direct measur
ment, on east side of creek
where rocks dip east about
7 ft 4 in. in 65 steps
155 ft is probably erroneous
near crest, inclining allm
once in a lb of angles.
Clinton in Whitfieldella.
The calculations for dip gave
180 feet but this seems absurd,
2. Hollywood at Smith Mill.
Black Shale,
20 in. Brecciated rock.
2 ft 3 in. Dev. Limestone.
21 in. candy rock, nodules + fish remains
4 ft 4 in. Irish limestone, solid
forming falls,
gray clay beneath.
64 White Oak creek road at
Erwine, W of road 1/2 mi S of
junction of White Oak road and
road to Callaway creek,
Black Shale,
Devonian cherty l.
52 1/2 white clay
part of this section grey in color
11 ft white clay with hard flint shale in
1/2 foot thin brown limestone,
5 1/2 ft white clay
C 2 ft solid brownish limestone,
25 ft white clay
5 1/2 ft ripple limestone thin layers
24 qft not exposed
stream branch.
126 ft = total of above section
From C down to top of limestone
layers at top of Clinton equals
44 yd at forks of White Oak creek one
and road to Callaway creek,
78 ft to top of Dev. L. This measur-
ment is quite accurate. The
thickness of the Devonian
limestone such as at least 75 ft but
must be measured near the
river, while the exposures are later
at base of section. Other fossils:
Plectamphorus trainsorals, orthus
descendula, Phinupena pladna, Sep.
Tamarachnoides, Pizzenariola,
Calymene megacephala, large size.
