Indian Fields. Oil Spring, SE of hotel, at the Oil spring. Also location of Soda spring. Level of the Soda Spring. 14" Fissile Black shale. 3" Nine solid layers, earthy, bluish gray, weathering irregularly shale. 12" More slaly, part of it (near top) very fissile and black. 10" Solid, light brown, like breccia- ted layer, but not brecciated. 12" Strongly brecciated and weathered or as to bring out this brecciated idea splendidly !!! Wish I could get a photographer Celestite, Crispall stones, Cyathophyllina and Favosites Corals. 2", Black shale 14" Solid, light brown limestone. Contains black nodules near base, up to 5/8 in. in length. Oil spring issues at this level or just below: In order Top of hill with nodules possibly 35-40 ft Black shale. 15 ft Clay layers in Black slate especial- ly lower part. 75 ft Black Slate Soda Springs.
