Holmes, R. 1959 Journal 35. 1 August Barrow, Alaska The traps were checked during the morning and Voth's area was checked for birds. Only a few Baird's Sandpipers and Longspurs were found. During the afternoon, I went to Fort Point and Krewik Lake to check on bird conditions in general. The evening was spent in preparing specimens. Weather clear, light rain 2 August Barrow, Alaska The traps were checked, and specimens were put up. We were anticipating a plane trip which did not materialize today. Weather forecast - moderate wind. 3 August Barrow, Alaska -> Point, Alaska Departed at 1000 for Beechey Point and Graves Island off the coast. We landed on Coth Dolan (4 mi N of Beechey Point) and walked around for about 30 minutes. The vegetation here was quite similar to that near Nunivak and other shore communities. Gravel surrounded the main part of the island which was composed of a slightly polygonized tundra. Only 2 Baird's Sandpipers and Snow Buntings were seen. No
