7 July Barrow, Alaska
The left evening. The traps were
collected between 2130 and 2300.
The ice is still present in the lagoon
but seems to be becoming softer
and is melting away from the
shore. The sea ice is now packed
against the shores for as far
as you can see. The insects were
extremely bad today during period
no wind.
8 July Barrow, Alaska
Worked in the boat all morning
and went to Voth's Area
in the afternoon to set the
traps. Five lines were
set. The mosquitoes as
flies were extremely bad -
There being very little wind.
The drum area was checked
and moves taken during
the evening.
9 July Barrow, Alaska
A strong (30-35 with gusts to 45
mph) wind was blowing for
the sea. By 0800, the ice had
mostly left and the sea was
extremely choppy. The traps
