Holmes, R. 1961 Insect Sampling 24 Aug Barrow, Alaska Snow lost night as Pat The fundr was covered with 7-½" powder. The ponds were froze to various degrees at 1000. The wind (10-30 mph) seemed to aid in the ice melting. I believe The ponds were all covered with ice in the early morning but by late morning, some had melted. Air temperature at 1230 (At APL) -32°. Pond temp from P-A only - due to a broken thermometer after ours was taken P-A - permanent = 13" - Temp = 2.5°C By surface was frozen with ½" ice. The pond was combined with A'. The sample taken today was about 1" above #1. Level at 3.5 P-B - 14" pbr. - level at 5.50. Snow only with <2' ring I measure the edge (~20%). Level (sample about = h#1, P-C - 19" pbr. - same levels as pure sample. Water level = 5.0. At present a edge only - mowing by grasses.
