Holmes, R. 1961 Journal 59. 25 Aug Barrow, Alaska Frequent snow flurries. All ponds were frozen or at least partly frozen. Saw Black-crowned juncos - no other birds Muller gave his seminar in the evening. 26 Aug Barrow, Alaska Morning spent - packing + checking specimens + After having coffee - Sullivant & went to AACs, The beach ridge (Nes- Trapline 5+6). No birds seen - except 2 Buntings - where The gasoline Cross The ridge. In the afternoon, Walked out to AACs - to obtain Buntings or Longspur (Saw 4 Buntings, 1 Longspur) The Longspur was cold. The buntings were too wary. 27 Aug Barrow, Alaska Morning spent in packing. In the afternoon, Muller & I went to The rootpick (ensure plot + finished staking The 60 acre plot. Weather was cold + windy (15-20mph) Evening spent in packing - let Falcon go today - flew away with no problems 28 Aug Barrow, Alaska Drew: The insect plot - took pond level + level data. Weather almost cool. Waited for plane until 1900 - finally departed - arrived Fairbanks 2230.
