14 June Barrow, Alaska
is still cold today with a
moderate SE wind. The birds
are keeping relatively quiet
with only an occasional
shackled or longyear display
being seen.
1300-1630. Drove down to the 0th Area,
North Slough, and S. of Barrow
Village. The snow was soft inspite
of the cold wind and melt off
is still coming along quite rapidly.
Domarmi jaegars were very common
today with many seen roaming over
the tundra. Three or four pairs
seem to have settled down and
were noted chasing Uyako birds.
1930-2030, Drum Area. Many
jaegars were also noted in this
area. Very little aggressiveness was
noted, however.
15 June Barrow, Alaska
0830-0915. Drum Area. The snow
continues to melt, thereby increasing
the amount of standing water
and making wading more difficult.
The tundra is now nearly 50%
exposed. The tops of the high polygons
