Rain continued all morning and by the time the samples were taken, the ponds had all filled to - level nearly equal with the melt-off flood level. Also many ponds that have dried out in the past, as well as troughs and depressions, or all filled with water. The tundra is quite well saturated, making walking difficult. During the afternoon, the samples were processed, & bird specimens prepared. The rain subsided to a wind-blown drizzle during the evening. 1 Aug Barrow, Alaska Morning spent in finishing my insect samples & during the afternoon/evening, we discussed plans with Tidelka, who is leaving tomorrow.
