Holmes, P. 1961 Journal 48. 31 July Barrow, Alaska 20-36 mph with gusts to 35-40. Rain continued all morning and by the time the samples were taken, the ponds had all filled to - level nearly equal with the melt-off flood level. Also many ponds that have dried out in the past, as well as troughs and depressions, or all filled with water. The tundra is quite well saturated, making walking difficult. During the afternoon, the samples were processed, & bird specimens prepared. The rain subsided to a wind-blown drizzle during the evening. 1 Aug Barrow, Alaska Morning spent in finishing my insect samples & during the afternoon/evening, we discussed plans with Tidelka, who is leaving tomorrow. Rain continued off and on during the day & a wind with gusts to 30mph blew during the day but subsided during the evening. 2 Aug Barrow, Alaska Today was bright & clear, yet crisp & "fresh." A light wind blew from the West; some fog came in during the afternoon. Wished a specimen to the last & then saw Frank off to the airport during,
