Holmes,R 1961 Journal 42 21 July Barrow, Alaska To ground until late morning. In the afternoon - cold W. wind was blowing. I was present in the evening when Pitelka & I drove to the No. 2nd 1 Footprint Lake - to look for a large Strubud which F.A.T. saw from the plane earlier in the day. 22 July Barrow, Alaska Spent morning doing samples of our last works. In the afternoon, went with Pitelka to my insect plot & took a vacuum sample. Weather was pleasant - 45-50 - very light (<5mp) westerly wind, absent but with a high ceiling. Two Golden Platers were heard, 18 Pholangoa sec, 2 longzars (Tus) were present this was all that was seen. Returned to the lat by 1600. Frank flew to Arctic, & I pounded samples & wrote a letter. 23 July Barrow, Alaska Worked in specimens & finished the last insect sample in the morning. Took alternate plot sample & pond sample during the afternoon. Rove to So. Side. 1 Lwht. - Elsa - S.S.W. to oolegea from the sweet solen & centobol mark. Little bird activity
