18 July Barrow, Alaska
was overcast. Rain fell during most
of the day.
19 July Barrow, Alaska
Sullivan & I went to Drava between Wohlschlag +
Ookpik Slough when a number of RB's
were collected. One Fumblor Schida were
seen, as well as 2 Parasitic jaegers. Longspur
were scarce, only occasional indiv seen. No
pectoralis seen, a few O' phalanger, + no others.
Phelke arrived at 1115. I went to the
insect plates at 1330, took samples. The
weather was cool - 40-45° F + a light
5 mph wind was blowing from The E.
Observation samples were also taken. In
The evening, a reception was held for
Werner Von Braun.
20 July Barrow, Alaska
Spent all day in the lab, processing specimens +
working on the insect samples. Weather today
cold (35°), winds 15 mph - E. - rainy.
21 July Barrow, Alaska
Insect samples and specimens were
processed all morning with the aid of
Sullivan & Phelke. In the afternoon I
went to Uoth Awa + Troopruit Lake.
Weather in the early morning was cold
(32°) - freezing - snow stayed on
