Holmes, R. 1961 Journal 34. 2 July Kotzebue → Barrow, Alaska We left Thompson Sound at 1340 The Listrum Hills until we hit the cost. (Weather rainy fog). Here are Cape Sabine + lands at lii A - Cape Beaufort for gas & coffee. Then we directly to Barrow along the coast where another head & beluga was seen near Point Lay & the usual gulls + Terns were noted. Mours or frogs Wee seen between Winnuqt & Barrow. Arrived Barrow at 1845, A.S.T. (prem times are on Being Sea time). The evening was spent in unpacking + readying for the insect sampling to be done in the morning. 3 July Barrow, Alaska Insect Samples were processed as morning + field notes were transcribed from tape into writing. In the afternoon, Sample 1 was obtained from the pinto & the vacuum- sample were also obtained. Bivalves was almost nil. In the evening, Muller, Chamberlain + 2 sorted samples. 4 July Barrow, Alaska went to Rikelka's Bear Plot + census. No birds were heard displaying in the plot. Several root had
